Impregnating is the process of protecting the stone by way of a penetrating sealer that is absorbed by the stone and clogs its pores.This should be done every six to eight months. There are three types of impregnators (water based,solvent based, or silicone based). It is very important to select the appropriate impregnator for your stone type and density.
